Volunteer Spotlight

1. Where did you grow up?

Daly City – California.  Currently in San Bruno, California (4 years)

2. Fun fact about you?

I love to cook.  I was selling plates to get feedback from people at one point.  I learned from my parents (that’s right my dad cooked too lol)! But self-taught to continue to learn other cooking techniques.  I love all cuisines, and I make it a point to learn a dish the way someone’s grandma would from any country! Fijian Indian food is what I started with!

3. Favorite quote?

“Try to be a rainbow in someone’s cloud” – Maya Angelou

4. What is your pet peeve?

My pet peeve is when someone doesn’t clean up after themselves. A little cliché, but once you’re done with your task (could be anything) clean up!

5. If you could host a dinner party for anyone in the world, who would you invite and why?

I would love to host Chef Gordon Ramsy haha!  I love his cooking techniques and would be excited for him to try my food!

6. What advice would you give to your younger self?

Advice I would give to my younger self is to not give up.  Don’t be afraid to ask questions.  Sometimes life knocks you back a few steps while you’re making progress, but that doesn’t mean you should stop, no matter how many times life punches you.

7. What do you like most about Crown Colony?

I love the atmosphere.  Crown Colony is truly a hidden gem. Very green – feels like I’m in a cabin somewhere in the woods.

8. What motivates you to volunteer?

Honestly, my upbringing/family.  I was taught to keep balance we should give back if we can.  Volunteering comes in many forms.  Whether that’s just helping your family, cleaning up your community or helping a neighbor in need.  It feels good to see someone alleviated from a little bit of stress.

9. What advice would you give to someone who is interested in volunteering?

I would advise someone who is interested in volunteering to head down to the HOA office where we can give you all the information you may need.  Also, to look out for our community day events!  Especially if they have an idea they feel can contribute back to Crown Colony.  Also to encourage others who you know is like minded and wants to bive back to their community.  I mean who doesn’t like to feel good about themselves?

10. When you aren’t volunteering, what can we find you doing?

When I’m not volunteering, I’m usually helping my mom around the house. I’d like to say I’m my dads personal trainer so we like to go on walks around our neighborhood.  You can also find me tending to my cats or I’m currently playing Hogwarts Legacy on my PS5.  Really just catching up with my family and friends. Also annoying my boyfriend….that’s most important!
