I want to commend the Daly City Women’s
Commission for honoring 12 Women of
Excellence during Women’s History Month at a
special event at City Hall.

The Women’s Commission serves as an advisory
body to the City Council with the mission to
improve the quality of life for women of all ages in
Daly City by identifying women’s needs, making
policy and program recommendations to the City
Council and educating the community on matters
concernmg women.

The Women of Excellence honorees this year are
Marie Villarosa, Patricia de Vera and Shirley Chan.
The Youth Women of Excellence are Jesslelynn
Tran, Jasmine Castro, Estephanie Sente Guardia,
Amnah Qayed, Azna Kyria Madu and Ayanna Rae
Hernandez.

The Kapwa Kultural Center and its founders
Stephanie Balon and Chrisi Morales-Kumasawa
were honored as the Woman Community-Based
Organization and finally Francine Kendrea Lucero
was honored as the Commission’s Woman
Warrior.
